An Open House Day for EU-China Year of Youth was hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Finland on 25 May, 2011.

Charge d'affairs ad interim Mr. Ma Qiang greeted the visitors from the Finnish Parliament, Foreign Ministry, CIMO, Junior Chamber International Finland (JCI), JEF-Finland, Allianssi, University of Helsinki and Aalto University. In his welcoming speech, Mr. Ma encouraged Finnish and Chinese youth to strive for common and bright future, emphasizing the important role played and unique contribution made by the young people to promote mutual understanding.

Guided by young diplomats, the visitors made a brief tour in the courtyard and the Consular Section of the embassy. They were also presented with introductions on China's national conditions and principal policies, China-Finland business relations and Chinese food. Three young Finns told about their living, working and visiting experience in China as well.

Around 50 visitors took part in this event. Among them was Mr. Kalle Kuittinen, who was the first Finnish student to study in China in 1953 at the age of 25.
